Free holiday activity for CHILDREN with disabilities and their families at National Museum of Australia
Guided exhibition tour and music workshop Wed 27 & Thu 28 April 2011
The National Museum of Australia, in collaboration with Music For Everyone, invites children with disabilities and their families, to visit the Museum for a unique holiday activity, free of charge. Participants will enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition, NOT JUST NED: A true history of the Irish in Australia, followed by a group music workshop exploring the exhibition’s theme, led by Music For Everyone’s experienced staff.
Discover the surprising but true history of the Irish in Australia at this major exhibition exploring the Irish presence from 1788 to the present day. See the armour of the four Kelly gang members, a pistol from the Burke and Wills expedition, fragments of the Eureka flag and much, much more
Enjoy a music workshop exploring themes and ideas from the exhibition, with traditional Irish music and using some of our great musical instruments.
No previous musical experience necessary. All participants must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Siblings without disabilities may attend also – simply fill in the details on the booking form, available from www.mfe.org.au. Please note bookings are essential.
This workshop is aimed at school-age children with special needs from 7 years, although we can be flexible with the ages of the siblings coming along.
