Making an Easter Egg Tree
A fairly new trend in Easter arts and crafts is the Easter egg tree. This is a great project to complete with the kids and looks fantastic in the family home to add a touch of holiday atmosphere.
What you need:
- Dried tree branch (one that will look like a small tree)
- White spray paint
- Foam egg shapes or real eggs
- Craft glue
- Glitter and other decorations (ribbons, sequins, buttons etc)
- Pot with dirt to plant your "tree"
- Ribbon and pins for hanging eggs on tree
What To Do:
- Get your tree branch and spray with the white paint. This step is probably best done outside by a parent or an older child. Leave in the sun to dry. Tip: If you don’t have an area that is ok to get a little off spray, like say the grass, then make sure you cover up before spraying.
- While that is drying you can decorate your eggs. You can either use real eggs, and blow the yolks out, or you can get some foam shapes for about the same price. Using the glue and decorations, decorate you eggs to your liking. This part the kids can go to their hearts content. Leave to dry.
- Once your eggs are decorated and the glue has dried take some ribbon and make a loop and then you can either push a pin through the ribbon and through the top of your egg or glue the ribbon loop to the top of the egg. These loops will be used to hang the eggs on the tree.
- Place your tree branch in the pot with the soil making sure it is stable and secure.
- Finally decorate your tree with the eggs, making sure you space them evenly around your tree.
Tip: If, like me, you don’t want to use real eggs and can’t find the foam shapes you could do what I did and use the small-medium sized hollow Easter eggs to decorate your tree. Then when Easter arrives the kids can eat the eggs. This method though does mean the eggs come in their foil so don’t really require decorating.
