How to Make Home Made Glue

You don't need to pay a fortune for craft glue that the kids pile on by the bucket load so that their "artwork" is so wet with glue that they have holes in the paper. Or they leave it outside, lid off, to dry out in the sun. This easy to make recipe uses ingredients out of the cupboard and can be stored in an old jam jar or something similar for quite some time.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • ¾ cup of cold water

Method

  1. Mix water, corn syrup and white vinegar in a saucepan.
  2. Heat on stove until it comes to a rapid boil
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch and cold water and whisk until you have a smooth consistency.
  4. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, stirring continually.
  5. Once it comes back to the boil, allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute and then remove from the heat.
  6. Once it has cooled, pour it into a jar or airtight container and leave it to sit overnight before using it.
